چکیده

In this paper, we consider a random network in which the nodes are deployed as a Poisson Point Process. Under this model, we find the medium access rate of nodes using a CSMA-type MAC protocol. For finite network areas this is a timefrequency parameter, while for infinite network areas it translates into a spatial parameter since stationarity can be assumed. The expressions found here make the definition and geometry of contenders explicit. Further, the expressions allow the use of general propagation models. We also present several practical calculations when the network coverage area is finite and regular and when different fading distributions are considered.

An Enhanced Aloha based Medium Access Control Protocol for Underwater Sensor Networks

In Underwater Acoustic Sensor Networks (UASN) designing Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol is a challenging issue. This is due to low bandwidth and high propagation delay in UASN. This paper proposes a MAC protocol for UASN called Aloha with Virtual Back off Algorithm (AlohaV). The VBA approach is the collision avoidance mechanism for wireless networks. In this proposed work we use VBA with n...

Multi-channel Medium Access Control Protocols for Wireless Sensor Networks: A Survey

Extensive researches on Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have been performed and many techniques have been developed for the data link (MAC) layer. Most of them assume single-channel MAC protocols. In the usual dense deployment of the sensor networks, single-channel MAC protocols may be deficient because of radio collisions and limited bandwidth. Hence, using multiple channels can significantly ...

Short-term and Medium-term Gas Demand Load Forecasting by Neural Networks

The ability of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) for estimating the natural gas demand load for the next day and month of the populated cities has shown to be a real  concern. As the most applicable network, the ANN with multi-layer back propagation perceptrons is used to approximate functions. Throughout the current work, the daily effective temperature is determined, and then the weather data w...

Improving the Collision Avoidance of the CSMA/CA Medium Access Control Protocol

In this work we present two approaches to improve the “Collision Avoidance” mechanism of the Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol. Our first approach : the “Uniform Law with Doubling Interval CSMA/CA (ULDI_CSMA/CA)” uses a uniform law in an interval of values I=[a, b] to calculate the random starting time when stations wish to send data. In addition to that,...
